Clogged Arteries : Family Nightmares

Ok. I'll admit it. I hate clogged arteries. It means you're just one step closer to death. It means you either need to do a 'balooning' (I think that's how they spell it) or a 'by-pass surgery'. None of them are fun. If none of them are successful, then you kiss your sorry ass good bye. Those are serious shits I tell you. You'd be a goner.

Have you booked your place yet? Decided on the type of coffin you wanna use? Damn!

I was having writer's block just now. Seriously. I got tongue tied. My fingers got tied too. I'm usually a very emo person and words just do me no justice when it comes to writing. I'm not exactly a good writer. I write just to rid myself off the anxiety and all the bad negative feelings I have welled up inside me.

Truth is, I just came back from paying a visit to my 2nd Uncle who lives in Sarikei too. Actually I went there to return a book that I borrowed from him months ago. I've delayed it for so long it makes me look really bad. *paiseh* And so I drove to his house with the intention of just returning the book, had a brief conver and then cabut before they can ask me anything more about my work/career. You know how relatives are. They wanna know EVERYTHING. Of coz this is good to a certain degree. Meaning that they care a lot about your well beings. But it gets annoying at times. Ya know what I mean?

Anyway, I dropped by and then learnt that my said Uncle was nearly hospitalized today. Stories are, he went to hospital for a medical check up and the results aren't good. The HA (Hospital Attendant) there advised him to be warded into the local hospital here for a 3 days observation. He maybe having clogged arteries and probably some sort of heart problem too due to the irregularity of his heart beat readings. To make things worse, his blood pressure is sky high and he's having diabetes. It makes surgery difficult because diabetes slows down your wound's recovery rate. On top of that, he told me he has blurry vision, and actually asked me whether it's caused by diabetes. He heard some diabetes patients eventually gone blind. I was speechless. I didn't know how to console him. I just told him not to worry and to rest early cuz he needs to have further tests tomorrow at another specialist clinic in Sibu just to confirm stuffs.

My father had clogged arteries when I was 14-15 years old and the ordeal left a permanent scar within me. It was total nightmare I tell you. The thought of losing my father at such a tender age is unbearable. Luckily he survived all the balooning and by-pass operations. The surgeries costs hundreds of thousands bucks. They sure ain't cheap! After that, he just takes regular chinese medicine to ensure that the arteries remain unclogged. But that's another story for another time.

I feel sorry for my Uncle really. He said he'll just get the Specialist to refer him to Kuching's GH (General Hospital) cuz it's cheaper there and he can't afford to go to Normah or Timberland. I told him going to GH makes the wait longer cuz there are loads of other patients and he'll have to queue up before he can receive treatments. He replied that he's not in any hurry. He can wait. And he calmly said that it's hereditary. That grandpa & grandma both had the problems. He looked like he's given into fates.

I quickly called my Dad and told him the news the minute I left my Uncle's house. Maybe he can talk to Uncle, somehow. Work something out maybe? Guy talk? I dunno. It's just so sad.

Besides that, I'm worried about this : It's true, what my Uncle said. These stuffs are kinda hereditary ya know. All these clogged arteries and heart problem shits. Both my grandparents have heart problems. Both of them died of heart attacks. Sort of. Clogged arteries are caused by cholesterol, which reminds me to add another reason to keep fit. If you're fat, it possibly means your cholesterol level is sky high too right? I'm so gonna starve myself! I don't wanna have clogged arteries! Aaarrrggghhhh!!!!
